An International Escape: The Argo Story

Argo and Astrology

The Chart for an Escape

January 27, 1980
Tehran, Iran
7:30 am

There are many chart clues for the timestamp for when six disguised American embassy workers, posing as Canadian film producers, boarded a Swiss Air flight and left Tehran unnoticed.  They were stuck in Iran after Iranian students stormed the embassies in November 1979 and took 55 Americans hostage.

As a kid, I remember how the Iranian Hostage Crisis dominated the morning and nightly news every day (for 444 days to be exact) and at times Americans felt like a rescue was hopeless. The story of embassy employees who were able to escape would be turned into the award-winning movie, Argo, decades later.  See below for a few areas noted in the chart above:

The escapees weren’t really considered “hostages” but they were in enemy territory (7th house) as you can see above.  They were in danger of becoming hostages.

  • Saturn rules the group that is escaping, situated in the 7th house
  • Neptune shows that Americans were disguised and also shows an American Spy, since Sagittarius rules the USA
  • Note the red line between the Sun and Mercury. The Sun in Aquarius rules the Iranian government and, as the movie documented, they loved reading the movie script, which the government officials reviewed at the airport to check if the awaiting passengers’ story checked out (Mercury “script”). The problem was, the guards couldn’t understand it because they only spoke their native language, Farsi.  The chart shows the language (Mercury) of Iran (Aquarius is the astrological sign for Iran). Mercury in the 12th house (Pisces: fake) shows a fake script and is in the house of foreign languages (12th). The Gemini 4th house also gives clues about a famous (Moon “fame”) script
  • In crime charts, check the elevated planets (closest to the MC) to see what is happening at that moment. Uranus reveals that the group is at an airport.
  • The “group” is denoted by a group of planets in the 7th House. Often, a planet will represent a person and a few planets in a house will show more than one
  • Uranus rules airports but it also represents an escape or a liberation. You can see this often in crime charts if the victim’s ruling planet is in good aspect to Uranus
  • Sun at 6° (the Virgo Degree) represents a govt. worker who was reading the script slowly 10° (the Capricorn degree). The script storyboards may have been drawn in black (Capricorn “black”) and white
