Argo and the Great Escape, 1980

Argo and Astrology

The Chart for an Escape

January 27, 1980
7:30 am
Tehran, Iran

There are so many elements in the chart for the timestamp of when six disguised American embassy workers, posing as Canadian film producers, boarded a Swiss Air flight and left Tehran unnoticed.  They had been stuck in Iran after Iranian students stormed the embassies in November 1979 and took 55 Americans hostage. It was known as the Iranian Hostage Crisis and the escape would be turned into the award-winning movie, Argo, decades later.  A few areas noted above:

The escapees weren’t really considered “hostages” but they were in enemy territory (7th house) as you can see above.

  • Saturn, rules the group
  • Neptune shows that Americans were disguised and also shows an American Spy, since Sagittarius rules the USA
  • Note the red line between the Sun and Mercury. The Sun in Aquarius rules the Iranian government and, as the movie documented, they loved reading the movie script, which the government officials reviewed at the airport to check if the awaiting passengers’ story checked out. The problem was, they couldn’t understand it because they only spoke Farsi.  The chart shows the language (Mercury) of Iran (Aquarius is the astrological sign for Iran).
  • In crime charts, check the elevated planets (closest to the MC) to see what is happening at that moment. Uranus reveals that the group is at an airport.
  • The “group” is denoted by a group of planets in the 7th House. Often, a planet will represent a person, and a few planets in a house will show more than one.
  • Uranus rules airports but it also represents an escape or a liberation. You can see this often in crime charts if the victim’s ruling planet is in good aspect to Uranus.
