Known in Colombia as "The Robbery of the Century"
The Great Heist is Now Showing on Netflix
The phenomenon of Mercury retrograde can create chaos that unfolds when a crime occurs during a retrograde period.
It is typical in crime charts that we see the crime being bungled during a time of retrograde (or it plagues the criminal for a very long time). Mercury in ancient astrology represents “a thief” – and on this day the thief is debilitated. In crime charts Mercury plays a big role (its placement and aspect/s) especially when it affects the 2nd house of $. In any *break-in* – be it a bank or a home invasion – you’ll see Uranus “to break” or Aquarius featured. This crime would be valued at $40m in US dollars today and is not only notorious because of its size, but that there was relatively no harm inflicted on anyone while the crime was carried out.
“The heist itself began on Saturday, October 15 (1994) at 6 a.m. during a holiday weekend. The assailants arrived in a red Dodge truck under the guise of repairing the bank’s air conditioners. Several of the assailants entered the bank and opened the garage door so the truck could enter.” Suárez Rincón and Bonilla Esquivel, meanwhile, waited at the Hotel Sicarare, which had a view of the bank. Neptune (scandal) at 20° (police) = Police Scandal
Note above – observe the “stellium” of planets in a sign – 3 or more – which reveals that there is a group of people (see chart above). In Scorpio, they are “underground” and in this case, it’s literal. They are in a basement breaking open a safe. Pluto in the 2nd house shows a lot of money, and it’s other people’s (Scorpio “another persons”).
Due to a retrograde Mercury, there are so many problems with communication and the typical in-fighting that occurs when Mercury is weak.
When you see Neptune (right), it means deception and something that’s fake as well as criminals and lies. Neptune is so strong next to Uranus + Sun (bomb), showing a fake explosive device hooked up to one of the hostages (see the 12th for hostages), like in the John McLane/Die Hard chart.
The Crime Chart: October 15, 1994, Valledupar, Colombia, 6 am
Summary from www.upi.com after the leader was apprehended:
The suspected mastermind behind a $30 million robbery in Colombia, Jaime Bonilla Esquivel, handed himself in to authorities Monday, saying police in the northern city of Valledupar had threatened to kill him if he turned them in. The Colombian pesos equivalent of $30 million was stolen from a Banco de la Republica vault on Oct. 10, causing financial havoc in northern Colombia as businesses were placed on the lookout for the serial numbers.
Fake Bomb (Uranus + Neptune square Sun)
Pisces in the 5th: Waiting at a Hotel (Pisces: hotel)
Saturn: To Wait, To Hold, Delay or Pause
Background
Mercury aspects Mars which can show a red vehicle. But in this chart Mercury is aspecting Moon (“white”) too – wouldn’t that mean a *white vehicle* or red and white vehicle? In this case, it was a red beer truck (Moon, “beer”). See full chart above to view the aspect.
Mars: "To Weld;" Saturn "To Wait"
Mars represents welding but it’s aspected by Mercury (the thieves) in the 1st when they were underground (Scorpio) and breaking open the vault. The military (Mars, left) however, was out in the open (10th) in front of the bank. In other words, as far as I’ve read, no one was welding anything out in the open. It seems, according to the movie, that a member of the military went to a restaurant/bar (Leo, 5°) and waited for the criminals to finish. Again, you see an aspect with Saturn, “to wait.”
As the elevated planet, or the planet seen at the top of the chart, you will see many Mars themes (the color red, men, weapons). Mars in the sign of Leo can mean “hot” since Leo is ruled by the Sun -which is how we can determine that welding was involved.
According to the Rulership Book (book link on home page) Mars also means “to weld.” It was a main theme of this crime that the criminals used a welder to enter the bank vault.
Mars is also at the top of the Delphi Chart
